Selected impressions

Made by the tide.
Finished by hand.

Every impression starts with an actual catch. Originals keep the irregular edges and honest marks that make gyotaku feel alive; fine-art editions bring that same texture to more walls.

The artist & the process

Coastal art with
a real story behind it.

I’m Aaron Weldon, a North Carolina artist making gyotaku from actual fish. I work with the natural shape of the catch, using organic squid and cuttlefish ink to pull out every honest detail—from the clean line of a fin to the rough texture of a scale.

The fish remains edible after printing. The impression becomes an original, a limited edition, or a custom-sized piece made for a coastal home, boat, restaurant, or gallery.
